Mushroom Sauce - Jan's Version

Ingredients
1 lb mushrooms
5 tablespoons butter
2/3 cup red wine
2 1/2 cup beef broth
1 teaspoon thyme
1 tablespoon balsamic vinegar
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
1 teaspoon salt

Directions
Put mushrooms in blender with some broth and blend until you have a coarse puree; pour into large sauce pan.

Add wine, beef broth, thyme, vinegar and pepper and simmer until mixture is reduced to a thicker sauce.

Pour over any type of beef and enjoy!

Mushroom Sauce - Lexie's

Ingredients
1/2 lb mushrooms (use 1 lb. if you want extra mushrooms not blended in sauce)
5 tablespoons butter
1/2 cup red wine
1 1/2 cup beef broth
1 teaspoon thyme
1 tablespoon balsamic vinegar
3 tablespoons flour
1/2 teaspoon black pepper

Directions
Melt 2 tablespoons of the butter and saute mushrooms.

Add wine, beef broth, thyme, vinegar and pepper and boil.

Mix 3 tablespoons of flour with water and slowly add to mushroom mixture stirring constantly until it thickens. Pour mixture into a blender, hold the cap on with a hot pad and blend until smooth.

If you prefer whole mushrooms too, increase your recipe to 1 lb of mushrooms. Before putting mixture in blender, hold out about 1/2 of the mushrooms.

Pour over cooked beef.
